Norwegian Luna Countdown

We are getting so close to sailing on Norwegian Luna, and you better believe we are excited. We’re in the final stages of our Norwegian Luna Countdown!

On Wednesday, March 4, we fly to Rome. We’ll spend a couple of days playing tourist before heading to Civitavecchia to meet the Norwegian Luna on March 10. There’s just something extra special about sailing from Europe; especially when it begins with another new-to-us city to explore.

This isn’t just another cruise for us. Luna is the newest ship in the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet. And it’ll be our first-ever Maiden voyage with the brand! Plus, having sailed Prima-Plus class sister, Norwegian Aqua, we already know what to expect. In fact, Mark gave that ship 6 out of 5 ships in his full rating, so you know we’re in for a treat!

What Is the Prima-Plus Class?

Norwegian Luna is part of Norwegian Cruise Line’s Prima-Plus Class, an evolution of the original Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva design.

The Prima-Plus ships are slightly larger and offer expanded versions of some of the features cruisers already love from the Prima Class. That means more space, refined layouts, and enhancements to dining, entertainment, and outdoor areas – all while keeping that modern, upscale feel Norwegian introduced with Prima.

Norwegian Aqua versus Norwegian Luna: Differences

Norwegian Aqua was the first ship in the Prima-Plus Class, and we had the chance to sail her within weeks of launch. You can catch that ship in our Top 5 Ships of 2025.

Now, Luna follows as her sister ship. With that said, while the ships may be sisters, there’ll still plenty to differentiate the two from each other. Check out our ship coverage where we talk about all the differences.

Norwegian Luna By the Numbers

Here’s a snapshot of Luna’s size and capacity, so you know exactly what kind of ship she is:

  • Gross Tonnage: ~156,300 GT – this is a measure of the ship’s overall internal volume and puts Luna among the largest ships in Norwegian Cruise Line’s fleet.
  • Length: 1,056 feet (about 322 meters) – over three football fields long!
  • Beam (Width): ~144 feet (44 meters) – plenty of room for all the outdoor spaces and venues.
  • Draft: ~29 feet (9 meters) – that’s how deep the ship sits in the water.
  • Passenger Capacity (Double Occupancy): ~3,550 guests – based on two people per stateroom.
  • Crew Members: ~1,388 – that’s a lot of people working to make your cruise awesome.
  • Total Onboard at Full Capacity: ~4,938 (guests + crew).
  • Total Cabins: ~1,813 staterooms across multiple categories.
  • Year Built / Entered Service: 2026 – join us for Maiden voyage coverage starting March 10!

As part of the Prima-Plus Class, Luna builds on what Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva started with a bit more space and even more exciting experiences packed into her design.
