In June of 2022, Carnival Cruise Lines announced that they would be taking ownership of two ships from Carnival Corp. sister brand Costa in a program the line calls, Costa by Carnival. From the Vista-class ships, Costa Venezia and Costa Firenze, are slated to receive Carnival Cruise Line staples and a “dollop” of Carnival fun.
Costa Loyalists Concerned
When the announcement was first made, there were a lot of concerns raised that these beautiful Costa ships would lose their Italian flare in favor of gaudy designs and venues force-fit into spaces where they didn’t feel at home.
These fears were put mostly to rest on December 12, 2022 as Carnival Cruise Lines shared some of the changes to expect with Costa Venezia. We joined the live press event where Carnival President Christine Duffy shared highlights of the new ship. And, while, yes, the ship will receive many Carnival staples, she will retain much of her Italian charm. In fact, so much so, that at least one Carnival Cruise Line’s favorite, Guy’s Burger Joint, will receive a complete rebrand to better fit into the theme of the ship.
What’s Changing?
We spent hours going through the deck plans of Costa Venezia, Carnival Venezia, and several of her sisters in the Vista class to give you a deck-by-deck overview of the changes to expect on the ship. We outline where you’ll find certain venues and highlight some of the most interesting and notable changes between Carnival Venezia and Vista-class sisters Carnival Vista, Carnival Horizon, and Carnival Panorama.
Sailing on Carnival Venezia
For anyone that’s sailed on the Costa Venezia, we’d love to hear what you think about these changes. And for anyone that’s already booked on Carnival Venezia, we’d love to know what inspires you the most about the newest Vista-class ship to be added to Carnival’s fleet? Be sure to post your comments below or on our YouTube channel.
Now, we just count down the days until her inaugural sailing end of May / early June 2023!
