When Carnival’s newest ship rolled out in 2021, she had many firsts – both for the cruise line and the cruise industry!
- The first cruise ship ever to feature a roller coaster
- The first LNG-fueled ship in North America
- The first ship in Carnival’s fleet to have a two-story RedFrog Rum Bar
- The first ship to introduce new bar options like Fortune Teller and Brass Magnolia
- The first ship to introduce several new upcharge eateries, including Emeril’s and Rudi’s Sea Grill
- The first ship to make Cucina Del Capitano free to all dining guests
- The first ship to feature our NEW FAVORITE RESTAURANT: Chibang!
Chibang is a Mexican food and an Asian food restaurant under one roof – and is included on Mardi Gras! Carnival Cruise Line describes the restaurant as having “delicious Chinese and Mexican traditions in the atmosphere of this elegant, modern spot…”
We made a video that talks about this dining venue, how to make reservations, and we share a bunch of pictures of the food (try the lettuce wraps!).
We’ve eaten at Chibang half a dozen times now, and have tried items from both sides of the menu. We share our thoughts on the dishes we absolutely love, along with the dishes we might recommend you avoid.
The best part of Chibang? It’s included in your cruise fare on Mardi Gras. In fact, Carnival Cruise brand ambassador John Heald has confirmed that Chibang will continue to remain a free option on the Carnival Mardi Gras. And, while it has been confirmed that Chibang will exist on both the Carnival Celebration and Carnival Jubilee, no pricing details have been released as of the time of this article (September 2022).
We’re hopeful that Chibang remains a free option on Mardi Gras’ sister XL-class ships. We love this new dining option and would love to hear your thoughts. Have you eaten there? Will you try it out on your next Mardi Gras cruise? Let us know in the comments!
Just for fun… Here’s a hilarious moment at Chibang in August of 2022:
