Carnival Firenze Complete Ship Tour (2024)

Carnival Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Carnival Firenze, just launched! We were there to welcome the ship and sail on her first 3 cruises and it was spectacular. We were able to record a TON of content from the ship, including our Carnival Firenze Complete Ship Tour (2024) which you can find below. But first, who is the Carnival Firenze, and what can you expect on the newest vessel in Carnival’s fleet?

Brief History of Carnival Firenze

Carnival Firenze was originally designed and launched for Carnival Corporation brand Costa Cruises as the Costa Firenze. Along with her sister Costa Venezia, she was designed for the Asian market (e.g., Hot Pot restaurant, signage, lack of thermal suite/spa) with some design elements still reflecting her origin.

She was first floated out on November 6, 2019, however, the COVID pandemic had other plans for her launch. Despite receiving her in December of 2020, Costa Firenze didn’t sail her first cruise until July 4, 2021. With severe lockdowns and restrictions, her Asian deployment was scrapped in favor of an all-Italian itinerary.

The pandemic left all cruise operators struggling, however, Costa seemed to struggle more than other brands. With two ships designed for the Asian market, and no cruises to sell, in 2022, Carnival announced that they would be bringing over both Costa Venezia and Costa Firenze to the Carnival Cruise Line fleet in a new concept dubbed, “Costa by Carnival.” This name didn’t last, and was eventually rebranded, “Fun, Italian Style.”

Just like that, Carnival Venezia and Carnival Firenze were born! Carnival Venezia joined the fleet in 2023 out of New York and sister Carnival Firenze joined April 25, 2024 out of Long Beach. Mark had the opportunity to sail both ship’s inaugurals which provided a unique comparison point between sisters in our full review.
