Carnival Cruise Line’s new private Caribbean destination looks to be a stunner. We first shared about Celebration Key earlier this year when the cruise line announced 5 unique portals. Throughout the spring, Carnival slowly released information about the private destination in hopes of building excitement for the more than 500 itineraries to feature Celebration Key. This past week, they shared the details on the fourth out of five portals, family-friendly Starfish Lagoon.
Starfish Lagoon Features and Amenities
“Stafish Lagoon, offering families endless ways to have fun in the sun”
– Carnival Cruise Line
Starfish Lagoon was the fourth portal announced as part of Celebration Key’s first phase. The family-friendly portal promises lots of amenities for families and adults alike, including:
- 10-story sandcastle with race water slides (previously announced); the area will also include “a number of hammocks” for hanging out
- Guppy Grotto splash pad, a children’s play area with two-foot deep wading pool, water toys, dump bucket, and other interactive features
- Guppy Grotto will also have plenty of shaded seating and an ice cream shop
- Game Pavilion will feature table games like foosball, ping pong, and corn hole “along with comfortable seating areas for socializing and meeting new friends”
- Sports Court that includes volleyball, basketball and pickleball courts
- Floating AquaBanas – a new concept that Carnival describes as “sturdy floating cabanas.” These 12 rentable private islands (as Carnival calls them), will have enough space for 8 and include a shady canopy and include “a solid table for drinks and other essentials.”
- Adults can enjoy the Swim Up Bar where specialty frozen rum cocktails will be featured
- Kayak and paddleboard rentals along with space for “sandcastle building” along the stretch of beach found in this area. Umbrellas and beachside cabanas are also available
- Multiple dining venues to include restaurants, snack and bar shacks, and Bahamian food trucks
The description of those new Floating AquaBanas sure is… interesting! Below is a rendering from Carnival:
Final Thoughts
There’s a LOT to be excited about in these announcements from Carnival Cruise Line. We look forward to visiting Celebration Key in 2025 to see how the descriptions and renderings compare to real life.
