Last week, I shared a brief update explaining why new videos had slowed down. Honestly, I didn’t expect the response that followed. So many of you sent messages of love and wishes for a speedy recovery. Other cruise creators reached out, and some even made their own get-well videos. On top of that, several of you sent donations to help with the mounting expenses. A simple “thank you” doesn’t feel big enough. But I want you to know how much it’s meant to me. And honestly, it still means just as much every day as I keep getting better. I shared my Mark health update on YouTube today. But I wanted to share here on the website as well.
A Little Background
So here’s what’s actually been going on. It traces back to an emergency root canal I had before our Luna Transatlantic sailing. Then, in March, I had a second root canal on that same tooth. At first, I thought that had resolved it.
But in July, I started having sinus symptoms. My tests kept coming back normal, so I got passed from specialist to specialist. Eventually, an ENT ordered a CT scan, and that’s when we found the real problem. The root canal had failed, and the tooth was infected. As a result, it had been quietly pumping bacteria into my body for months. For a while, my body fought it off without realizing anything was wrong. Eventually, though, my body needed a break.
That’s when my ENT and endodontist sent me in for emergency surgery. During the procedure, they removed deteriorated bone, tissue, and two teeth. They also did multiple bone grafts to rebuild what I’d lost.
While the irritation in my cheek feels a little better than before, I have a follow-up with my ENT to work through the remaining sinus issues. For now, though, I’m just taking it one day at a time.

A HUGE Thank You
More than anything, I wanted to share the Mark Health update video to say thank you. I talk all the time about how much this community means to me. In fact, you’ve probably heard me say it before: cruise people are the best people. This past week reinforced that belief a hundred times over. Looking ahead, I can’t wait to get back to raving about desserts and obsessing over obscure deck plan details. Most of all, I can’t wait to see you all out on the water again. Whether it’s on our 2026 Group Cruise on Norwegian Aqua, the Margaritaville at Sea Beachcomber inaugural sailing in January, or any other upcoming cruise.
Thank you for being part of this community. And thank you for surrounding me with so much love.
